Clearly she had made Nicholaus uncomfortable, by mentioning his red eyes this straight forward. Especially because he had tried to hide them behind a glamour. Why can I never just not say the first thing that comes to my mind when I'm surprised, she chided herself. Tessa had tried over and over again to get rid of that annoying habit of hers, but apparently even when you had endless amout of time it was hard to break habits like that. All the same with her burning curiousity. Tessa would forever be asking questions about everything. She wondered wether it was like that for other immortals too, stuck forever in the personality they had had before being arrested in time. Surely that couldn't be true.
Then and there Tessa decided to put her ability to the test. She enjoyed talking to Nicholaus and even though she tried to keep her talent a secret it really wasn't. Downworld talked so what was the point. Surely soon enough someone would be putting a note in her letter box with an offer anyway. Her personal favourite to change into was Camille Belcourt. At first the icy cold of the vampire had been a little terrifying but Tessa had learned to apreciate the strength that came with it. Sadly Camille was out of the question as it was broad daylight and burning would not be a pleasant sensation. Tessa then decided to change into some random woman that she had changed into a few years back. Back then she had done it to try and learn more about her ability.
Idly she wondered what Nicholaus would see. Hyacinth had said that her disguise looked like a vapour of clouds below which she could still see the real Tessa. Maybe Nicholaus would only see the woman. She had not tried to fool faries again after Hyacinth.
Tessa calmed her thoughts and reached into her mind searching for that one particular light, locked within herself. It was like picking and chosing clothes from a big closet, as she had quite the collection of people now. She gave Nicholaus a smile and reached for the woman with her mind. Tessa let the change come over her. A tingling sensation covered her whole skin as it tanned notably. Her brown locks straightened out and lightened to a dark blond. With her now green eyes she looked at Nichlaus and flashed a smile.
"Don't you just love how you can get completely lost in the words of a book and imagne what your life would be like if that world would be yours to live in?", she asked with a heavy spanish accent and followed up with a giggle. Tessa had forgotten how silly that woman had been, finding everything endlessly hillarious and that, and inwardly rolled her eyes. Laughing she let the change fall off her and her own looks came back. She shuddered a little at the thought of having to have that kind of mind for a whole life, but she guessed that the woman herself had not realised how shallow she had been.
A ruefull look passed her face. "That was a bit random, not usually my style at all. I tend to have a better taste in people than that." Now Nicholaus would surely think that she had lost her mind, or find it interesting. Being a psychologist and all. "I promise you that I am not scizophrenic or anything. You probably have experience with people like that, huh? I find psychology extremely interesting, but I just always stuck with working in a bookstore, once I had started it."
