General Appearance: Face Claim: Lily Collins; Clary is rather short and beginning to show muscle from her time spent training. She has long, slightly curly red hair that she inherited from her mother, Jocelyn. Her eyes are a bright green, a trait also passed down from her mother, and she has a few frackles across her face. Clary used to almost always dress in ratty t-shirts with paint splattered jeans, but she has taken to wearing Shadowhunter gear now.
Talents: Drawing Runes, Talking to New People,
Interests: Drawing, Learning To Be A Shadowhunter,
Personality: Clary is brave and not afraid to rush into danger headfirst without thinking it through clearly. Her tendency to put herself in danger for others’ sakes is a constant point of irritation for those who care about her. Clary is also deeply in love with Jace; to the point that many believe they are soul mates. They are completely devoted to each other and are willing to do anything to keep the other safe.
Clary is incredibly stubborn, and if someone tells her to do something without a good reason she probably won’t do it. She also doesn’t respond well to being treated like a child. This stubbornness is most often shown in arguments, especially with Jace or her mother. Clary has the legendary redhead temper which is easily sparked. Despite this, she is usually quick to forgive after a fight.
Yet, she is very caring and because she is relatively new to the world of Shadowhunting, she can be a bit naïve at times. This is most obvious when she becomes trapped in the Seelie Court because she didn’t think before putting her fingers in her mouth. However, Clary is an avid learner and is quickly catching on to the ways of the Shadowhunter world.
Weaknesses: Fighting, Naiveté, Stubbornness,
Strengths: Creating New Runes, Compassion, Determination,

History: Jocelyn Morgenstern, horrified at what had happened to Jonathon, refused to tell Valentine that she was once again pregnant. As she fell into a depression, Valentine slipped some angel’s blood into her food in an attempt to make her happy again. Instead, this gave Clary abilities beyond a normal Shadowhunter’s. When Valentine and the Circle were defeated, or so everyone thought, Jocelyn fled to New York City where she enlisted the help of the warlock Magnus Bane to ensure that Clary would know nothing of the Shadowhunter’s world. The plan worked well until Clary and her best friend Simon attended the club Pandemonium. There Clary witnessed three Shadowhunters, Jace Wayland, Isabelle Lightwood, and Alec Lightwood, kill a demon. Intrigued by her Jace informed Hodge Starkweather of the incident and received orders to bring Clary to the Institute. Before he could, however, Clary then received a panicked phone call from her mother that was ended abruptly. She entered their apartment to find it destroyed and defeated a Ravener demon while she was there. Jace brought her to the Institute where she was taught more about the Shadowhunter ways. During these events Jace and Clary began to have feelings for each other. Clary and Jace discover the Mortal Cup in a deck of tarot cards where Jocelyn had hidden it from Valentine. Valentine then reveals that he is Clary’s father and that Jace is his son, making them siblings to their horror.
As Clary tries to move on from Jace she strikes up a relationship with Simon. Soon, though she is informed that Jace is imprisoned in the Silent City because he is suspected of being a spy for Valentine. Valentine enters the Silent City, slays the Silent Brothers, and takes the second Mortal Instrument, the Soul-Sword. In an attempt to find information about Valentine’s plans, Jace, Clary, Isabelle, and Simon travel to the Fairy Court. There, Jace and Clary are tricked into kissing and they realize that they are still in love with each other. Simon is then transformed into a vampire due to his earlier transgression with them. Later, at the Institute the first hints of Clary’s ability to create new runes reveal themselves. In the fight with Valentine, Simon drinks Jace’s blood thereby becoming a Daylighter and Clary creates a new rune that destroys Valentine’s ship. Later, a woman named Madeleine tells Clary that she knows how to break the spell that keeps Jocelyn in a coma-like state.
The Lightwoods, Jace, Madeleine, and Clary plan to travel to Idris but Jace is unwilling to allow Clary to put herself in danger. He asks Simon to lie to her about the departure time, but the Institute is attacked by Forsaken forcing Magnus Bane to open the portal early. However, in the ensuing battle Madeleine is killed and Simon injured just before Jace pulls him through the portal. Angry over being left behind, Clary creates a portal using her ability to create runes and Luke jumps through after her. They land in Lake Lynn, and Clary accidentally swallows some of the water, which is poisonous. Luke hurries her to his sister, Amatis’s house, where she nurses Clary back to health. Clary remains with Amatis for the duration of her stay in Idris. She is introduced to Aline Penhallow and Sebastian Verlac, friends of the Lightwoods. She and Jace fight after Clary witnesses him kissing Aline, and Sebastian walks her home afterward. Clary then invites him to visit Ragnor Fell, a warlock who might know how to break the spell on her mother, with her tomorrow. When they arrive, Magnus Bane, who is posing as Ragnor Fell, because Ragnor was murdered a few days ago, freezes Sebastian. He then informs Clary that he might know how to break the spell on her mother. After Sebastian is unfrozen, they begin the trip back to Idris, he kisses her but she pulls away because it feels wrong. He becomes angry and informs Clary that Simon is in jail, and that Jace knew but didn’t tell her. She and Jace have another fight but calm down enough to visit the Wayland manor, Jace’s childhood home, looking for the Book of White, which will help Magnus to wake up Jocelyn. There they discover an imprisoned angel who tells them that Jace carries demon blood. They escape the house as it explodes and share a kiss in the excitement. Clary refuses to let Jace use her as an excuse to hate himself and they return to find Alicante under attack. Clary gives the Book of White to Magnus and he and Alec confirm their relationship. Jace, Clary and Alec go to break Alec out of jail while Isabelle, Max and Sebastian stay at the house. However, Sebastian follows them and kills Hodge before he can tell them the extent of Valentine’s plans. They then realize that Sebastian is a spy, and fight him but he escapes. They return to Alicante to find that Sebastian attacked Isabelle and Max, knocking her unconscious and killing him. Clary shows the Clave a new rune she created that binds a Shadowhunter to a Downworlder, allowing them to fight more effectively. Jace leaves to hunt Sebastian and Jocelyn informs Clary that Jace is not her brother and rather than demon blood Jace has angel blood. Isabelle kills Sebastian by severing his spinal cord, and Jace and Clary confront Valentine who kills Jace as a sacrifice to summon the angel Raziel. Raziel kills Valentine and grants Clary a wish, and she asks him to bring Jace back to life. The two are then allowed to finally be together.
Jace, haunted by dreams of hurting Clary, is pulling farther and farther away from her. It is revealed that the demon Lilith is sending the dreams and she then takes possession of Jace. She gathers Simon and Clary as well, where they discover that she is planning to bring Sebastian back to life. After a brief battle, Simon kills Lilith by forcing her to strike him; because he is wearing the Mark of Cain her attack rebounds and kills her. The Shadowhunters then leave weary and relieved, but Jace lingers and revives Sebastian. When Lilith died her control over Jace was transferred to Sebastian who then leaves with Jace.
Clary is distraught over the disappearance of both Sebastian and Jace, and is doing all she can to locate them. She sees the two of them in the Institute Library and is puzzled over the fact that Jace seems to be there of his own free will. Later, Jace and Sebastian show up in Clary’s house trying to convince her to join them. Jocelyn discovers them and screams which leads to a fight where Luke is injured. Clary then decides to join them but as a spy; and communicates with Simon through fairy rings. She then discovers that Jace is possessed and that Sebastian plans to make a Dark version of the Mortal Cup and create Dark Shadowhunters. Jace briefly reverts back to normal and decides to turn himself in to the Clave, essentially committing suicide. Clary tells Sebastian to prevent Jace’s death and allows him to repossess Jace, and thereby gains Sebastian’s trust. The three then journey to where Sebastian has gathered those he is planning to turn into Dark Shadowhunters. The test subject is Amatis, who resists but eventually is transformed into a Drk Shadowhunter. The good Shadowhunters attack and in the ensuing battle, Clary stabs Jace with Glorious, an angel sword, the only way to break the connection between him and Sebastian. The Dark Shadowhunters are defeated and Sebastian flees. Jace has recovered from his wound but is now imbued with heavenly fire that burns those who touch him.
Family: Father: Valentine Morgenstern; Mother: Jocelyn Fairchild, Brother: Jonathon (Sebastian) Morgenstern; Step-Father: Luke Garroway
RP Sample: Clary walked along the sidewalk, thoughts swirling around in her head. So much had happened over the past few weeks and she was still having trouble processing everything. Now, Sebastian is still at large and is amassing an army, and Jace burns anyone who touches him. To top it all off, Alec and Magnus broke up and Alec does nothing but mope around the house, and Isabelle still blames herself for Max’s murder. Being a Shadowhunter was extremely stressful, and Clary was pretty sure she’d need therapy is things kept going the way they were. They probably all would.
Lost in thought, Clary walked slowly towards the park, she used to love this park. She and her mother would walk along the paths, laughing and talking with each other. Clary smiled a little wistfully, she missed those days, back before everything was complicated. Her mood soured as she thought about the happenings of the past few days, most specifically her time with Jace and Sebastian. She knew that she ought to feel some sort of sisterly affection towards Sebastian, despite the fact that he was a murdering psycho, but all she felt was hatred… and pity.
Startled, Clary slowed her pace and considered her last thought. Did she pity Sebastian? Yes, she decided, she did. He had never known what it was like to be loved; and Valentine, the one person whose approval he craved, had beaten him and preferred Jace. Such a horrible childhood would give anyone issues, demon blood or no. Yet, as she remembered Max, innocent little Max who hadn’t deserved to die, she found that she still hated him. Letting out a groan, Clary felt like banging her head against a tree. She was back to where she started and she still hadn’t addressed the issue of Jace’s new role as the Human Torch.
Clary sighed loudly as she slumped onto the park bench and glanced around. The sun was bright and it was a beautiful day, yet try as she might she couldn’t bring herself to be happy. Her thoughts and feelings were so jumbled that her head was beginning to ache. Shaking her head quickly, she closed her eyes and tried to banish the bad memories and let the sun’s warmth wash away her fears. The sound of laughter jolted her out of her daydream and her bright green eyes snapped open. A family was walking along the path, smiling and laughing together. As she watched them, Clary felt her own face relax into a smile. That was the reason Shadowhunters existed, to protect the mundanes and allow them to live their lives without having to worry about demons. The family soon passed and Clary found herself once again alone with her thoughts. Yet, she felt somehow lighter as though she had once again found her passion for Shadowhunting. Determination flashed in her eyes as she stood and strode purposefully towards the Institute.
