Tessa has softly curled brown hair that reaches past her shoulders. Her eyes are described as a steely grey. Her loves Will and Jem both think she is very beautiful. Living that long she has come to see a lot of the world and she tends to have a serious look on her face.
She is a bit taller than average but nothing too dramatic. She has a slim body that still looks like she is training with weapons even though she has given up training a long time ago. Her immortalitly arrested her body in the state it was when she was fully grown.
Talents: Tessa can shapeshift into any person and also acces their memories and behaviour, as long as she has a physical object of theirs or has already changed into that person once before.
Interests: She loves reading a lot
Personality: Tessa is very intelligent and does not hide it. When discussing something important she doesn't hold back what she thinks, but says it, even when she speaks out of turn.
She has a very strong will and is quite stubborn about it. When she gets something started she wants it to be finished the way she started it and it takes patience in others to convince her that sometimes there is a better way.
When she loves, she loves with everything she has. She will die for the people she loves and puts herself in risky situations to save them. Additionally she has a very caring personality and does not judge people the first time she sees them. She sees the good in people and when a person, that she saw in a bad light, changes she can appreciate the change and accept them the way they are.

History: Tessa was born in America and lived there together with her aunt Harriet until she was 16. Her parents died in a carriage accident when she was only three years old. When her aunt dies of a fever caused by poisened chocolates, she has no one in the world left, but her believed brother Nate, who moved to England years ago. She decides to travel to England to live together with Nate.
Arriving in england she is taken prisoner by the Dark Sisters who torture her into learning how to change. They teach her all about her ability and say that they are preparing her to married to the Magister.
The day before she was to be married to the Magister, William Herondale broke into the Dark House as part of an investigation and discovers her. They escaped the house together and from then on she lived in the London institute together with the Shadowhunters. She learned all about the shadow world there and fell in love with Will and also James Carstairs (Jem) who was addicted to a drug called yin fen. It is keeping him alive, but at the same time killing him slowly.
Will believed there is a curse on him, which will kill anyone who loves him, which is why he often treats Tessa quite badly, but Tessa loved him nonetheless. When the curse was proven to not exsist he admited the greatness of his love for Tessa but she had to tell him that it is already to late, because she is now engaged to Jem.
When Tessa was taken captive by one of the Dark Sisters once again Will had to be the one to go and try to rescue her, because Jem was too weak to go. While Will and Tessa are gone, Jem has decided to go to the Silent City to become a Silent brother making him immortal, just like Tessa. He is from that point on Brother Zachariah.
Silent brothers cannnot marry, so Tessa was then no longer engaged to Jem. After a few months of being courted by Will, she accepts to marry him.
They have two children together called James and Lucie. And she stayed with Will until the day that he died in her arms.
She decided to leave her family then, because she could not stand the thought of her children becoming older than her and seeing them die too.
Once a year she still meets with James, who leaves the Silent City for one hour. They meet on Blackfriars bridge, which is where they went the first time they left the instutute together. Her love for him is unbroken and she will love him until the day that she dies.
As a memory of these days she still wears the jade pendant James gave her as an engagement gift and the bracelet Will gave her at their 30th wedding anniversary.
Family: Her mother was a shadowhunter called Elizabeth Starkweather, who didn't know what she was. Her actual father is an Eidolon Demon, but Tessa believed it was a human called Richard Gray.
She had a cousin called Nathaniel Gray, who she believed to be her brother.
She married William Herondale and had two children with him, called James and Lucie.
Tessa is Jace's Great-great-great-grandmother.
Her Ex-finace is James Carstairs who is still alive as brother Zachariah. She meets him once a year in London.
RP Sample: Tessa was once again back in New York. A city that she had not called home for a very long time and believed she never would again. Her heart was where her loved ones died, which was England. And while Jem lives in the Silent City, which can also be accessed from New York, or in fact places all over the work, they will always meet on Blackfriars Bridge in London.
Lost in the thoughts of her past she crossed 5th avenue in New York waving through the cars that were, as always, stuck in the traffic. On her way to the next entrance to Central Park she passed various artists, offering their finished drawings or wanting to speed paint people. Some seemed very good, but most of them less so.
Somewhere she thought she heard a church bell ring. "Please no", she said out loud and quickly checked the watch on her wrist. A smile appeared on her face, not because she was late, but because she was also looking at the pearl bracelet that Will had given her to their 30th wedding anniversary. It had been more than 60 years since Will had died and the memory of seeing the life leaving him was still as vivid as it had been a year after he died. Her heart clenched and the smile slipped from her face as the memory filled her. And then she remembered all the adventures they had had together. Will trying to explain why he didn't like ducks, her only laughing because she didn't understand at all. She shook her head and the smile was back on her face, wider than before. "Oh Will, whereever you are...".
Finally her destination came into view, Turtle Pond. She was supposed to meet someone there. She didn't know who it was, or what they wanted from her. The note had only said "Meet me next to Turtle Pond at noon. I need your help, please". Not a lot of people knew how to reach her and the writing had seemed oddly familiar.
There she stood at Turtle Pond, slowly turning to try and see who could be the one to wait for her. All she could see, were humans most of them tourists at that. No one who looked familiar.
Her heart jumped as she thought she saw a young man with silverish hair, only to be dissapointed when he turned around and she saw that he had died his hair that colour. Of course, she thought, Jem is a Silent Brother. There is no way it could have been him.
"Well hello, Theresa Herondale", a voice behind her back said. "We meet again". Tessa spun around and she looked into the familar face of Magnus Bane.
