General Appearance: Millie is 5' 4”, and weighs about 115 lbs. She has long blond hair and blue eyes, and generally looks like the girl next door. But once you get past her initial features, you start to notice that maybe she isn't the girl next door. She has a long scar across her collar bone, and has a healing rune on the back of her neck. It's forever present, and most mundanes who see it believe it's just a tattoo. Her arms and legs are free of any scars from runes, but recently she has been getting runes on her back. History: Millie Arlington was born on August 25th in Australia to Allison and Rafael Arlington. Her parents were the caretakers of the Sydney Institute, and she grew up in it. Millie trained just like any child born as a shadowhunter would, and was well versed in how to protect herself and others from demons and rogue downworlders. Her parents had been the caretakers of the Sydney Institute since their marriage ten years before Millie's birth and missed their hometown of Chicago, so when she was ten they decided that they would leave. However, they had to deal with a dangerous vampire nest that was slowly turning a whole town into their own personal darklings before leaving. Because of the relatively small size, the Arlingtons decided to go on ahead and go with Janellle Mannel, a family friend, to clean house. They left Millie alone with Angeline Mannel, Janelle's sister who had settled at the institute to recover from a prior hunt.
The vampire nest was bigger than they had anticipated. Angeline knew there had been trouble when the group hadn't returned an hour after sunset that night, and pooled together a rescue party from local shadowhunters. When they got there, most of the nest had been killed or dispersed. The Arlington's were found dead, and Janelle later died that night from severe blood loss and broken ribs that had punctured her lungs. Angeline Mannel was instantly appointed as the temporary overseer for the institute, and Millie was left in her care under Clave law. Eventually, Angeline and Millie bonded, and Angeline became a second mother to Millie. Angeline requested to be released from her duties at the Sydney Institute to be able to take Millie to Chicago and fill the recently vacated Chicago Institute spot. Her request was granted, and she was allowed to take Millie with her. Millie was fourteen when taken to Chicago, and loved it there.
Slowly, Millie began to shy away from shadowhunter studies and duties, and when confronted by Angeline about it, she realised she didn't want to go on as a shadowhunter. Angeline allowed her to attend the local public school, and knew when Millie graduated she would go on to college. Millie quietly began to remove herself from the shadowhunter world and began to integrate herself into the mundane world. When Millie graduated, and went on to major in history and political science at NYU in New York city. She was careful to slip under the New York Institute's radar, and was successful until she witnessed a vampire attack a person on her way back to her apartment from a party. She was horrified, but could do nothing about it seeing how she had stopped carrying any kind of weapons around with her after her freshman year. Realising just how bad of a mistake she made, she began to train once more and is now attempting to slowly make her way back into the shadowhunter world.

Millie toyed around with the arrow in her hand, taking in the sleek and beautiful design. She hadn't picked up a bow and arrow in years, not since she had been twelve and was still attempting to train as a shadowhunter. She had been good, but there was no telling what she was like now a decade later. She put on her finger tab, and flexed her fingers in them. God it's been forever since I've done this... Millie thought to herself as she picked up her bow, and looked at the target.
It was a regular old dart board that the bar she worked at had long since outgrown. It had a point system written on it, with the colours red, green, and black taking up most of the board. Rolling her shoulders, Millie strung the arrow, and took a few steps back to make sure she wasn't trying to sugarcoat this. Slowly, she drew the bow up, concentrating on keeping her limbs still. Her joints made small popping noises, getting used to an old position that Millie used to do all of the time. Concentrating, she closed one eye, and aimed. The sounds of New York drowned out as she slowly steadied herself, and the only thing she could hear was the whine of the string as she drew it back. She took a deep breath, and released. She was brought back to an old memory of her and her mother in the training room back in Sydney.
'Mills, you're doing great!' her mother said, smiling down at her daughter with pride. Millie grinned, her smile missing two front teeth since the 'tooth fairy' visited the week before. Her mother patted her on the back, jostling the leather quiver Millie had on.
Shaking her head, Millie looked ahead and whispered, “Shit”.
Her arrow had hit the bulls eyes.
“100 points to me,” Millie mumbled as she put the bow down, rolling her shoulders once more.
almost finished now ..x..
