Race: Shadowhunter
Birthday: December 8th
Gender: Female
Eye Color: Blue/Hazel

getting to know you ..x..[/color]
General Appearance: Verity stands at about five feet, two inches tall and is also the correct weight for her age, and body type. She has long blonde hair, which has a bit of a curl contained within it as well. Her body has more of a lithe and graceful appearance also, which can be deceiving as she is rather muscular, too, and quite able to take care of herself in a variety of situations.
Talents: Verity is rather gifted with moving silently and stealthily when situations call for it, she can also be rather persuasive and charming at times.
Interests: This teenage girl is quite interested in studying all of the aspects of shadowhunting, as well as the history of the Shadowhunters and their artifacts. Verity is also greatly interested in simply reading any books, and keeping up with mundane society whenever possible.
Personality: Verity is a kind, clever young teenage girl. She doesn't enjoy being belittled and looked after as if having her tagging along is such a large disadvantage to everyone around her. She also has a great deal of confidence that she totes around with her, which can result in her being a bit foolhardy at times, sometimes in rather stupid situations. Verity is strictly loyal to everyone she cares about, and just her fellow Shadowhunters as a whole, in fact. If anything seriously ever turned Verity away from these core personality values one should most certainly take it as something being deeply long with the situation surrounding it.
In addition to her key points of confidence and loyalty, Verity is also an extremely friendly person. She can sometimes be described as a bit happy go lucky depending on the type of news that she has recently received, who she has been around and such. Verity is a rather gentle soul who will go to great lengths to protect her friends and family, as well as whomever may need a bit of protecting along the way. That last little bit can be contributed to a bit of a hero's complex that she has begun to develop over the last few years, as she has begun to feel as if she once again has a purpose, instead of being a tag along. Her hero complex can lead her, at times, into dangerous situations unless she keeps it in check, which she usually does, with the constant reminder on those around her if necessary.
Finally, Verity Nightshade seems to have just a bit of a cloud of sadness following her about, as a result of the circumstances that brought her to the Institute.

..x.. your past
History: Once upon a time, there was a little baby girl. She was a tiny thing, born to Roger and Lizabell about a month or so, maybe less, earlier. She was one of the two babies born, a twin, almost identical to her elder brother (by only a few minutes), Vincent. She was kept in an incubator for a week or so after her birth due to her poor health, several days after her brother had been released from the hospital. The precious little girl pulled through, though, and at the end of her week long stay she was snuggled back in her car seat for the drive home to her new little darling house in a small town within the state of Maine. She was consistently in and out of the hospital throughout her young life, due to her weak immune system, which caused the numerous diseases she contracted. Still, she grew to totter around and chatter to her parents just a bit before her younger brother managed to do so. As she grew older her likelihood though disease and sickness dropped and she grew to become a healthier child, chasing around her elder brother, the both of them being attached at the hip.
However, just because Verity Harper Nightshade wasn't sick as much, didn't mean being sick didn't affect her as much as it had previously. In fact, it affected her even more as she grew older, leaving her laying on her bed, sick, for even longer periods of time than she had had to previously when she was younger. This brought around one of the largest changes in Verity's life. Her parents finally told her about their Shadowhunter heritage. Verity was ten at the time and more than a bit disbelieving as her parents sat both her and her brother down and explained how her father had left to be with her mother, and how they were now, or rather he, was now exiled from this place called the Clave, or Institute or whatever due to that decision. Well, the story caused Verity to scoff more than once before she started believe, and then it just made her angry that they had turned away her mother and father. Her parents continued to explain that they thought that fully accepting her Shadowhunter heritage by actually becoming a Shadowhunter might improve her health somehow. Something about their vast knowledge of runes and the Silent Brothers, Verity couldn't remember, or make anything of it at the time. She only knew that her family was uprooting and moving to New York City.
Mere months later Verity and Vincent could be found clutching each other's hands, and their bags as they entered the Institute for the very first time in their lives. They left their parents behind, as per the rules of the Shadowhunter world, on the promise to their parents that they would visit whenever they could sneak away unnoticed. The pair received their first runes and began their education as Shadowhunters, as well as their training. Verity received proper care when needed, which was greatly lessened after she had received her runes. She grew stronger and flourished under the new circumstances of her good health and even now begins to make strides towards being the very best Shadowhunter that she can be.

RP Sample: ('Tis from another site I used to role play on. It's my character Sky, who is a mermaid. 852 words total, long posts are sort of common with me :P )
Being cramped up in a city, any city, no matter how small was a huge change for Sky. It felt as if she was trapped at times, unable to escape with just a flick of her tail as she used to. There were so many more obstacles now, even if the ocean hadn't exactly lacked in the presenting of it's own obstacles. Every time that she held a thread of hope to escape some situation or another there always seemed to be a wall in the way. A literal wall. Definitely a large contrast from the mostly open stretches of ocean which almost always provided an easy escape to a fast moving mermaid, which pretty much described everyone that had been in her pod. If only there was a bit more of a group setting. Then she wouldn't be the odd one out. Or at least maybe not the only odd one out. Everything having to do with socializing was better in groups, right?
The beach was Sky's safe haven, and she was most definitely not in a group. Especially not here. It was funny, how many people looked at you just a bit oddly when you vaguely mentioned mermaids. She could almost see their faces if they were to witness her 'transformation'. They would probably claim themselves to be hallucinating or just a touch crazy. However, it was still safe to say that a majority of the mortals would deny the entire affair. Definitely a good thing for her circumstances. After all, she hadn't meant to show herself to that group, even if it was only her tail. Her father would have had her tail for that little slip up and demonstration of stupidity and carelessness. Not that he was harsh or anything, no, he just happened to care a lot. And, after fifty odd years, Sky really should have known better. then again, how should she have expected mortals to be wandering the beaches so early? All she had wanted was a good swim. Research shouldn't be necessary for a simple swim.
The young mermaid simply sighed and shook her head, swatting long strands of blonde hair over her shoulders in mild irritation. She was going to be going for a swim today. She couldn't care less if there were a million mortals out there with their cameras at the ready. She was fed up with this routine and there was no way that it was going to end up getting the best off her. She was not going running (or swimming) back to her pod having not made it in the 'real' world. She would make it work, somehow.
Without a single thought, except being able to finally get in the water, Sky dumped her things on the sand, carefully straightening in organizing them in under a minute. She rapidly shed the shorts she had been wearing over her bikini before taking off towards the water at a dead on sprint. A grin spread over her lips as her first foot landed in the water. Sky felt the zings of the change, like electricity and rushing water almost. The girls legs began to take longer strides into the deeper section of the supplementary version of her precious ocean. She just barely reached a part deep enough for her to be able to actually swim when her tail fully emerged. Sky settled in the water and snorted out a bit of a laugh, directed at herself. She once again swept her blonde hair, which was now damp as a result of her ungraceful fall once her tail had appeared, behind her shoulders.
"I really need to practice that." Sky murmured, shaking her head to herself in contempt for the results of her transformation. "I almost didn't make it out here in time." The addition was made in reprimand to herself as the young mermaid allowed her body to adjust to the water. It was so comforting, something that she had been so used to until a few years ago. It was natural, as if she had never actually left her pod's ocean all those few years ago. As if it hadn't been over a week since her last swim. It was the same every time, and yet the sense of home was renewed in the same manner every single time. Sky grinned at the thought, posing her tail up wards in order to propel herself further into the water as she caught sight of a figure.
The mermaid blushed in embarrassment at her unawareness, once again. Of course someone would appear, and not while her tail was under the water, either. It just had to be when it was quite obvious that there was something odd about her. She could have at least faked it under other circumstances. Swimming just a bit closer Sky grinned. "I don't suppose you'd like to make friends?" She queried, her voice quite friendly in light of her rather volatile and potentially dangerous, for herself, of course, mistake. After all, a girl could hope for a bit of friendship in favor of rumbling mobs, right?
almost finished now ..x..
