THE BOOK OF WHITE, a powerful spell book that has been the tightrope between Nephilim and Downworlders. And now that it's mysteriously disappeared, from the hands of the notorious Magnus Bane, no less, tensions run high as each race can point their fingers at somebody else. The Nephilim desperately search for the tome and relations between them and warlocks are ever straining. Warlocks, in turn, doubt the decisions of the Clave - but then again, which race doesn't? Werewolves want to keep it out of the vampires' hands, that's a given, but the fanged race wants nothing to do with the Book. In fact, their leader Raphael Santiago fears the worst - that someone wants to use the Book as some sort of vigilante of justice and attempt to "purify" the damned.
